Close Quarter Rifle Fundamentals

Learn the tenants of rifle gunfighting!

CQRF is designed to make students proficient with their defensive carbine in a close quarter environment. This class develops students proficiency in weapon handling, presentation, recoil management. Then gradually adds more complex shooting problems such as movement, use of cover, shoulder and weapons' transitions etc.

Prerequisites:

Students must understand firearms safety rules and be able to load/unload and manage their weapon without assistance

It is recommended students show up with a zeroed rifle, time will be allotted for a rough zero but will need to be confirmed at distance. This class is not intended for a new unfired rifle out of the box

Practical Rifle

Practical rifle is meant to develop students' skills in rapid target engagement with a rifle from 0-400+ yards in natural terrain with unknown distance targets.

Students will learn moving while utilizing cover and concealment, establishing a stable position, range estimation and holds. We will practice employment of support equipment such as barricades, slings, bags, and bipods. 

Course topics: 

  • Gun setup Zeroing Trajectory/ holds
  • Utilizing optics to their potential
  •  Range estimation/ Reading wind 
  • Shooting positions/ use of cover/ Use of artificial support 
  • Movement 
  • Multiple target engagement.

 

Gear list: 

  • 2 point sling 
  • Rear bag and or front bag 
  • red dot or scope 
  • 3 magazines 
  • Eye/ear protection Clothing appropriate for rocky, uneven, terrain
  • 500 rounds of ball ammo (no green tip)
  • No muzzle brakes 

Recommended gear: 

Shooting mat, Multiple shooting bags, bipod, variable scope with a mil reticle and offset rds. 

This class is intended for a 16in barreled 5.56mm chambered AR-15 with a magnified optic. You do not need match ammo or components. Feel free to bring sbrs, other platforms, or no magnification, just understand the difficulty will increase. Acceptable calibers .223/5.56, 7.62x39, 300bo, .308/7.62x51, Prerequisites: Must be able to safely handle/load/unload your weapon Must be familiar with your equipment/scope/reticle/etc.
